Might not look like something out of the ordinary, but it’s a young mavka and a changeling, fascinated with a rare sight of a blooming fern flower. But then again, why shouldn’t a happy sight look ordinary?
The fern flower — a magic flower in Slavic mythology. It blooms for a very short time on the eve of the summer solstice and brings great fortune and powers to the person who finds it. The owner of the flower can understand animal speech, see all the hidden treasures, pass through any lock, shapeshift… each tale promises different gifts.
The fern flower blooms in the deepest and darkest parts of the forest, and must be searched for alone and without any light. The evil spirits guard the flower and make the search and the journey very hard and dangerous.
The ferns as the species never bloom, and reproduce via spores.Happy Solstice! Happy Kupala Night!
